EXORCISM

"The Power of Christ Compels You!"

The idea of the exorcism, the concept of the removal of an evil supernatural entity which has been occupying a human's body, has been part of the human story since time immemorial.  The idea of possession exists in almost all cultures, which alone should cause one to pause before dismissing it.

Societies tend to have specialists who are talented or trained to force the foul beings to leave their victims.  Whether they be shamans, witch doctors, priests, or gifted laypersons, many believe some on earth have access to means by which they can evict a foul spirit.

In modern times' popular literature, the Roman Catholic Church seems to lay a claim, as they have throughout the ages, that only a specially trained priest with permission given by a bishop, has the authority to command demons to leave a victim.  Others who are not Catholic will of course dispute this.

We in Hell would like to have it said that demons do not recognize any particular religion or authority on earth any more than any other.  And as for symbols such as a cross or items such as holy water or certain herbs, they mean nothing to a demon, except what it might mean in the mind of the victim or the exorcist.

However, a demon or other evil entity, when confronted with energy it cannot defeat, including but not limited to the will or attitude of the victim or the exorcist, has no alternative but to flee.
